Clint's first fiction novel, A Long Road To Reckoning, takes place in a small southern town in the United States, at a time when racial division was struggling to become a thing of the past. It tells the story of how one white, rich boy’s folly sends a shockwave through a community that forces its citizens to think beyond race and to examine their feelings about right and wrong no matter what color someone is. It is a story about injustice. It is a story about racism. It is a story about the power that we have to make choices in our lives, even in the times that it may feel as though we are powerless to make any choice at all. But mostly, it is a story about the fact that, as human beings, we all understand pain, fear, anger, and love, and the consequences that come with our choices around which of these feelings we may choose to let dominate our lives
As the story unfolds, we begin to see that sometimes, the power of choice can be the most powerful force that we possess.

I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee while my dad was working as a basketball coach at Hiawassee College. We moved to central Florida when I was two, and we lived there until partway through my second-grade year. From there, we moved to north Florida, where I stayed until I graduated from college and moved away. I am the oldest of three. I have a sister, three years younger than me, and a brother, a year younger than her. My parents divorced when I was 14, my dad moved to a town about an hour away, and we moved out onto a 38-acre piece of property that my mom’s parents had bought several years before. My mom’s only sibling, and her husband and two kids, already had a trailer on the property. So, when we moved out there, we had my whole mom’s side of the family in one place. Some of the best years of my life were those spent living on that small farm. My two cousins and the three of us kids eventually, one-by-one, moved off the farm to start our own lives elsewhere. But until each one passed away, my grandparents, aunt and uncle, and even mom, all stayed on the farm.
When I graduated from high school, I went straight into college at Florida State University, where I received a BS degree in Hospitality Administration. I was recruited by a restaurant company as a manager trainee and wound up managing one of their restaurants in south Alabama, close to where I grew up. During my time there I decided to spend one of my vacations, doing an Outward Bound Nine-day Intensive trip up in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Thus, began my love of rock climbing and ropes courses. After about two and a half years in that job, I actually moved to the mountains of North Carolina to work as a restaurant manager at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, allowing me to still work as a manager, but also affording me the opportunity to play in the mountains again. When not working in the restaurant, I worked on our Challenge Course as an instructor and facilitator, as a raft guide, and as a rock climbing and rappelling instructor. As well as working at the Outdoor Center, I also had time to join a nearby volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, affording me the opportunity to receive firefighter and rescue training as well as becoming certified as an EMT. As an EMT, I was given an opportunity to work as a set medic for a movie that was being shot in the area. Towards the end of the shooting, I was asked if I would like to be an extra, which I gladly took, and eventually wound up working as an extra in a number of films in nearby areas.
While doing all of this, I met who would eventually become my first wife. While married to her, I worked in several different places as a restaurant or hotel manager. I also began working part-time with a local leadership development company. In all of my years in management, it had either been a part of my responsibilities, or I had intentionally placed myself in a position to train others. I have always been passionate about training and developing other leaders. And working for the leadership development company was a perfect fit. We did everything from boardroom workshops to individual performance coaching, to outdoor teambuilding and activities on our six-acre challenge course. I spent roughly 16 years working part-time for this company before it eventually dissolved.
Around three years after my first marriage ended, I met Hannah. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we wanted to be together. I have four wonderful children, two from my first marriage, a son and a daughter, and two stepsons. For the sake of both of our sets of children, Hannah and I progressed slowly in the relationship, making sure that it was going to be a good fit for them as well. On our honeymoon, within 24 hours of us being married, Hannah and I had our first experience ministering to someone as a couple, and it has been going on ever since. We love working with couples as coaches and are certified in Marriage Mediation. We are very active in our church and are involved in several ministries, including our own, A City Not Forsaken, a ministry devoted to helping people coming out of addiction recovery, or incarceration, successfully transition back into mainstream life.
Several years ago, God began to download ideas for song lyrics into my head. The more sets of these lyrics that I wrote, the more I began to realize that they were parts of a story. Over time, what eventually emerged were the foundational pieces of a Christian musical for stage and/or screen. I have over 14 sets of lyrics and most of the foundational pieces of the script already written. Living in the small area that we do, I have had a hard time finding people with the time or desire to collaborate with me to develop this project. The most difficult part has been finding a composer, or composers to work with me to complete the songs. I consider myself a writer and lyricist, but I am by no means a musician. What I need most, is someone to work with me to take the sounds and melodies that I have in my head and make them into music that brings life to the songs for this show. I am by no stretch of the imagination comparing my level of talent to his, but I often tell people that I feel like a Bernie Taupin looking for his Elton John.
